Unlike many exposed ridge hikes, the Shing Mun Loop follows gentle trails beneath a dense tree canopy, making it one of the most comfortable routes during Hong Kong's warmer months. Along the way, we'll enjoy reservoir views, towering paperbark trees, peaceful picnic spots, and encounters with the area's famous macaques.

Recommended Option (Easiest)
1. Take the MTR to Tsuen Wan Station.
2. Exit at Exit A.
3. Take Minibus 82 from Shiu Wo Street.
4. Alight at Shing Mun Reservoir.
5. Walk approximately 5 minutes to the Shing Mun Barbecue Area.
Alternative Option
1. Take the MTR to Tai Wai Station.
2. Take a taxi directly to Shing Mun Barbecue Area (approximately 15 minutes).
For those driving, parking is available near Shing Mun Reservoir, but spaces can be limited on weekends.
Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time so we can begin the hike promptly.

Starting from To Tei Wan, we will ascend onto the iconic Dragon’s Back ridge, following a spectacular undulating trail with panoramic views across Shek O, Tai Tam Bay, Big Wave Bay, and the South China Sea. The route offers a perfect balance of adventure and accessibility, making it suitable for both experienced hikers and those looking to explore one of Hong Kong’s classic trails.
After enjoying the stunning viewpoints along the ridge, we will descend through coastal woodland towards Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay), where participants can relax on the beach, enjoy refreshments, and soak up the laid-back atmosphere of one of Hong Kong’s favourite surfing destinations.

After the walk, participants are welcome to join us for drinks and food near the waterfront before returning to Central.
Join Hong Kong Hikers Club for an unforgettable ascent to Lantau Peak (Fung Wong Shan), the second-highest mountain in Hong Kong at 934 metres above sea level. This challenging but immensely rewarding hike takes us through dramatic mountain scenery, along the famous Lantau Trail, and to one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the territory.

Starting from Pak Kung Au, we will steadily climb towards the summit, gaining breathtaking views over Lantau Island, Shek Pik Reservoir, Ngong Ping, Hong Kong International Airport, and the South China Sea. After reaching the summit, we descend via the iconic mountain trail towards the Wisdom Path and Ngong Ping Village, home to the famous Tian Tan Buddha.

This hike involves a substantial ascent and long stair sections. Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable with mountain hiking and extended uphill climbs.
Getting There
From Tung Chung MTR Station, take New Lantao Bus routes 3M, 11, 11A, or 23 and alight at Pak Kung Au. The meeting point is directly at the bus stop.
Post-Hike Social
After the hike, participants are welcome to join us at Ngong Ping Village for refreshments before returning to Tung Chung. This is a great opportunity to relax, meet fellow hikers, and celebrate conquering one of Hong Kong's most iconic peaks.
