Hong Kong Hikers Club – Club Rules & Policies

1. Eligibility

Participants must be at least 18 years old. Minors may join only with written parental or guardian consent and must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

2. Assumption of Risk

Outdoor activities involve inherent risks including injury, illness, and environmental hazards. By participating, you voluntarily assume all risks and release the Hong Kong Hikers Club, its organizers, and affiliates from liability for any harm or loss incurred. Participants are advised to obtain personal insurance coverage for outdoor activities. The club does not provide insurance and is not liable for medical or evacuation costs.

3. Health and Safety

Participants are responsible for ensuring they are physically fit and adequately prepared. All members must follow safety instructions and respect trail rules, wildlife, and fellow hikers.

4. Membership and Participation

Membership is open to individuals who agree to these Terms. We reserve the right to deny or revoke membership or event access for misconduct or non-compliance.

5. Code of Conduct

  • Treat others with respect and courtesy.
  • Avoid harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior.
  • Refrain from littering or damaging natural habitats.
  • Comply with all club policies and local laws.

6. Photo and Media Consent

By participating in club events, you consent to the use of your image in photographs or videos taken during activities for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media, and printed materials. Images will not be sold or used for commercial purposes without additional consent. Opt-Out: Notify the event organizer in advance if you prefer not to be photographed or filmed.

7. Emergency Procedures and Contact Information

All participants must provide up-to-date emergency contact information during registration and acknowledge the club’s emergency protocols.

8. Alcohol and Substance Use Policy

For safety and liability reasons, the consumption of alcohol or use of controlled substances is strictly prohibited during hikes and any physically active portions of official club events. However, members may choose to participate in post-hike social gatherings where alcohol may be consumed responsibly. The Hong Kong Hikers Club encourages moderation and respectful behavior at all times. Unsafe or disruptive conduct may result in disciplinary action.

9. Equipment and Gear Responsibility

Participants are responsible for their own gear and any damage to club property loaned for activities.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on our website is the property of the Hong Kong Hikers Club or its contributors. Unauthorized use is prohibited.

11. Privacy

We collect personal data for registration, communication, and safety purposes. By using our site and participating in events, you consent to our data practices under Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO). This may include verbal reminders, written notices, temporary suspension of the member account, temporary suspension from events, or permanent removal from the club. 21. Hosting Flexibility
